2300-Letterman's Scandal

Dave Letterman was recently asked to testify to the Grand Jury of Manhattan, after receiving some threats in a package in his car. Different articles, as well as on his show, have announced that the package came from a CBS employee who was trying to blackmail Letterman for doing "terrible things."

Letterman found a package in his car full of things that could prove he had had sex with women that worked for him on the show. He made this public on his TV show during a ten minute briefing he gave the audience about the entire ordeal.

Although he did not deny it, Letterman saved his job and his viewers by being straight with them.

Personally, I think he and his audience have a twisted sense of humor. But Dave knows he has viewers that are just like him, and played that up and still finds love from his viewers.

The PR crisis was that Dave Letterman was blackmailed, asked for two million dollars from a man who knew he had sex with female employees, and then had to testify in court about his actions. This would have reached the media and public, and the people at Letterman knew this.

Instead of trying to hide it, Dave came out and talked about it, in his ever sarcastic tone, and really did wonders for himself. He was able to make his audience laugh through his story of sleeping with employees!

If I ever had to deal with this kind of crisis, I'm not sure I would have handled it like this. I am more the type to not laugh at this kind of scenario, but I think in this case it worked for him. If his followers are okay with that kind of behavior, than he did exactly what he needed to do.
