2300- Critique of Utah Ski Ad

The Utah Office of Tourism has released another ad with talking snowflakes.
A similar ad ran last year. The article can be found here, at Deseret News. The article reports that the ad will cost Utah $985,000 and will be exposed to 144 million people.

The ads from last year can be found on YouTube here. The ads show seven or so snowflake men, (men dressed in large white pointy snowflake looking costumes) above the earth being assigned to different areas of the earth by one Master Snowflake, and those in less sparkly costumes don't get sent anywhere. The ones he sends to Utah are very excited about their placement, and the second video shows them falling and landing on the ground, yelling, "I made it to Utah!"

The ad then reads where the snow can be found by skiers, located less than 30 miles from the Salt Lake airport. All the commercials that I watched were clever, just long enough, and really informative.

One thing I really like about this ad is that it's creative. It implies that the best snow comes to Utah, and that it's happy to be here. I also really like that once it entertains, it informs. I'm not a skier, but I think that I would atleat be amused by the commercial, if not sold.

The article in the Deseret News specifically mentions a target market that they are trying to reach, as well as the cost of the ad for Utah taxpayers. This is good practice because it informs the shareholders.
